Teaching

  • Beginners to advanced. Students are encouraged to explore different types of music-making based on their artistic and personal interests. Lessons can include such topics as orchestration, improvisation, score study, production, and more. Students also learn to speak clearly and confidently about their own music.

  • Beginners to advanced. Lessons primarily consist of an exploration of fundamentals, regardless of the student’s level. This includes things like shruti shuddha, varishais, alankaras, geetas, and varnas. Students are also expected to explore how their voice can be developed through manodharma/improvisation. Along with technique, students gain an understanding of the history and context around their own vocal practice.

  • Beginners to advanced. Lessons will consist primarily of a mastery of basics, regardless of the student’s level. This includes a focus on intonation, scalar facility, and etudes. Students are then encouraged to bring music that they are passionate about to lessons for workshopping. For those who are interested, improvisation will also be practiced.
